The Mcintyre Accountability Project

Holding Milan Township Trustees accountable for the ongoing sanctioning of unsafe road conditions and public safety failures on Mcintyre Rd.

This is a community-led initiative formed by concerned residents of Milan Township. Our mission is simple. To demand accountability for the dangerous conditions that exist on Mcintyre Road that puts our children, pedestrians, cyclists, and overall community at risk.

The Road design is not only unsafe-it’s indefensible. Despite repeated warnings from residents and formal legal requests, the township’s leadership has failed to respond and take any meaningful action to address the conditions that create the danger.

Safety over Shortcuts
If a child is hurt here, no one can say they didn’t know.

11 ft Wide

At 11 feet wide, this road is hardly suitable for common commercial trucks that stretch 9 feet wide. Oncoming traffic has nowhere to go. Even 2 economey sized vehicles have to pull over to pass each other.

2 way traffic

School busses pulling off road to allow oncoming traffic to pass. Speeders coming over blind hills. It's a matter of time before a collision.

55mph Unposted Speed Limit

There are state routes in the area with wider, safer roads that have a 35mph speed limit. McIntyre has no speed limit signs.

Blind Hills

Two blind hills where traffic can approach in opposing direction with no visibility

Commercial Vehicles

Open unrestricted transit of commercial vehicles, School buses, construction vehicles, vehicles towing trailers, with widths of 8’6” through a road at 11’10”

Flooding

Natural Spring that floods road and creates icy conditions during winter (+55MPH Speed)

Real Views from McIntyre Road

Imagine being a walker, runner (Edison Cross Country team), cyclist, or a young high school inexperienced driver and having to navigate around above vehicles going 55mph on a blind hill with 2 seconds or less to react. Below are stories of the community’s experiences with conditions like this.

See What McIntyre Road Really Looks Like

These videos show the truth you can’t ignore. McIntyre isn’t just narrow, it’s dangerously undersized for the traffic it carries. You’ll see cars forced into the grass to pass, trucks taking up the entire roadway, and moments where a oversized vehicles leave zero room for anyone else.

This is the daily reality for families, students, and workers who rely on this 55mph 2 way road with multiple blind hill spots.
